Tag override enables a document's editors and collaborators to update, add, or delete fundamental and key terms. Authorized users can thus keep extracted data up to date, leaving an audit trail of all changes to each tag.
While authorized users can create and edit user tags on all documents (extracted or store-only), tag override only applies to contracts with fundamental or key terms.
Unlock Mode
Note
To edit tags, you must have an admin or co-admin role in the system, and collaborator or editor access permission to the file.
Admins and co-admins can see the lock button to access unlock mode. Once in unlock mode, an editor or a collaborator can update, add, or delete a contract's fundamentals or key terms.
Click the lock icon to enter unlock mode. To switch back to locked mode, click the icon again. If you can't see the lock icon, you may lack editor or collaborator access to the document.
- Open the Documents Stage or Documents view to raise a list of documents.
- Select a tagged document.
- Click the lock icon to enter unlock mode.
- Click the Edit (pen) icon and enter a new value.
- The new value is saved automatically.

Tag overrides enable you to edit terms and provisions, providing more granular and dynamic date calculations. Changing an effective date (on a renewal, for example) can automatically update all subsequent dates for execution, delivery, payment, and renewal.
You can edit the way dates are calculated in the agreement using the following date types:
Date type | Format | Example |
---|
Date | Fixed date | Jan 04, 2023 |
Date Calculator | Dynamically calculated date | 30 days from Effective Date (February 3, 2023) |
TBD | "TBD" (literal text) | TBD |
Custom | string | "Request input from Finance" |
Duration | Dynamically calculated date | 90 days |
You can also override a date by editing the Renewal Provision field. This field describes the conditions under which a term or provision is renewed. Possible values are:
Renewal Provision | Changes Required? | Meaning |
---|
Option | No | A legal option to exercise a term, provision, or agreement, |
Fixed | No | A fixed date |
Auto | Yes | A dynamically calculated date |
Perpetual | No | No expiration date |
