Creating a Billing Plan

Implementing Milestone-based Billing for Quote-to-Agreement Flow

  • The Auto Create Order check box is checked in the Comply System Properties.
  • The Auto Create Order check box is unchecked in the Proposal System Properties.

This section describes how to implement milestone-based billing for quote-to-agreement flow for your organization.

  1. Create a Quote/Proposal and click Configure Products.
  2. Add products to the Cart.
  3. From the Cart page click Manage Billing Plan.
  4. Create billing plan with Plan Type as Milestone and Billing Method as Split Evenly. Enter Number of Installments, for example 3.
  5. Enter the Expected Date for all the billing plan line items and click Finish.
  6. Finalize the cart.
  7. Accept the Quote.
  8. Create an Agreement with line items from the Quote page as follows:
    1. On the Quote page, click Create Agreement with Line Items.
    2. Select In Signatures for the Status Category and Ready for Signatures for the Status fields.
    3. Click Save.
    4. Attach an Agreement from the Notes and Attachments section.
    5. Click Done.
  9. Click Activate to activate the Agreement.
    This creates Order, Order Line Items, and Asset Line Items.
  10. Activate the Order to create billing schedules.

Suppose you are a billing administrator of a company selling computer hardware and your client has placed an order for 1200 laptops. Your client has agreed to pay in 3 installments, each of 400 laptops.

Execute the above steps to create a milestone-based billing. Assuming that the amount payable is USD 1,2000.00 and the milestone dates are 01-August-2025, 15-September-2025, 10-October-2025, three billing schedules are generated in Pending Milestone status as follows:

When a milestone is achieved, edit the milestone and enter Actual Date. This changes the milestone status to Completed. The status of the billing schedules is changed to Pending Billing.
