Guidelines for Creating Catalog Structure

Follow the below guidelines to create Catalog structure.

  • Hierarchy Management: Keep multi-level hierarchies logical and easy to navigate; add, move, or reorder categories as needed.
  • Hide Top-Level Category: If only one main category exists, hide it so subcategories are displayed as primary categories.
  • Standardize Naming: Maintain clear, consistent naming for categories and subcategories.
  • Avoid Duplication: Prevent duplicate entries and SKU proliferation to keep the Catalog clean and maintainable.
  • Product Association: Always associate products with the lowest-level subcategory for proper Catalog display.
  • Price List Association: Link main categories to price lists to ensure visibility of subcategories and products.
  • Refine your search: Make sure to configure and use "Refine Your Search" capabilities which lets you filter products in the catalog using specific criteria like Product Family, Product Type etc. This feature is especially useful in large catalogs.
