Update an Identity Provider

Before proceeding with the steps below, follow the instructions to navigate to Identity Provider Management.

CAUTION:

Incorrect or incomplete settings may prevent the Application Portal from trusting the identity provider, or vice versa. Use extra care when modifying settings, particularly on the primary provider, as a broken configuration could lock out all user and administrator access to Conga from accounts on that provider. If your primary provider trust has been broken and you are unable to restore access, please contact Conga Support for assistance.

Before proceeding with the steps below, follow the instructions to navigate to Identity Provider Management (above).

Click the Edit icon next to the provider name. A settings panel will appear on the right side; it contains two tabs: Configuration and Username Formats. If this is the provider's initial configuration, the settings under both tabs must be completed for a fully functional integration.

The configuration settings will vary, depending on the type of identity provider. For example, OpenID Connect configuration requires different settings than SAML 2.0-based configurations.

Please refer to any type-specific guides (if available) in the documentation portal, as well as the documentation from your provider's vendor.

Common settings for various providers include, but are not limited to:

Entra ID (OpenID Connect)

  • Domain
  • Application ID
  • Application Secret/Key

SAML 2.0 (ADFS, Salesforce, and others)

  • Entity ID
  • NameID Format
  • URLs (multiple)
  • Binding mode(s)
  • User profile attributes (multiple claims)
  • Group claim (supporting group-based authorization)

METADATA IMPORT (SAML-BASED PROVIDERS ONLY)

Optionally, the Conga Application Portal can conveniently import most settings from SAML metadata (XML) generated by your identity provider.

  1. Obtain the XML metadata from your identity provider. Please refer to your vendor's instructions if necessary.
  2. In the portal's provider configuration tab, click the Upload Metadata button.
  3. Browse to or drop the file into the pop-up dialog, then click Upload.

The screen will update the relevant settings with values found within the uploaded metadata. Note that previous settings (if any) will be overwritten when the metadata contains a value for those settings. Commonly, there are some settings that are not provided by the XML metadata; these settings will not be modified and will retain their prior values. Please double-check all settings for accuracy.
