Images
Smart Document allows the user to dynamically embed images into the Generated Document. To do so, the user will use the Add Image function. Once added the tag can be edited in different ways. The image tag must be based on a field or a column containing a URL leading to the image resource.
How to Add an Image
The insertion of the field is done at the cursor position or replaces any current word selection. To create an image tag, the user must follow this process.

| 1 | Place the cursor in the Word document where the image should be inserted. In the add-in on the Home tab, click on the + next to the Image menu. | |

| 3 | Rename the Image tag if needed. | |

How to Add an Image in a Table or Iteration
The image tag can be used in tables or iterations.
IN A TABLE
In the context of a table, it is possible to add an image tag as part of one or more of the rows. To do so you need to go through the following steps:

| 1 | Create a Table with a set of columns. Please refer to the Dynamic Tables documentation for more information about the tables. | |
| 2 | Place the cursor on the BeginTable (or EndTable) tag to open the edit of the table in the add-in panel. In the column sub-menu, create an Empty column through the add-in panel. An empty column has been added in the table (you can use the reorder column function if needed). | |
| 3 | Place the cursor in the cell of the row where the image should display to insert the image tag. Click on + tab to display the list of available functions. Click on + next to the image function. | |
| 4 | Select which column contains the image to insert. Reminder: The type MUST be URL for the image source. Then click ADD IMAGE. | |
| 5 | The image placeholder is placed in the table. You can now edited as explained in the following section. |
IN AN ITERATION
In the context of an iteration, it is possible to add an image tag stored in a column. To do so you need to go through the following steps:

How to Edit an Image
The edit picture component allows to modify the image tag parameters:

| Fixed size The final size in the generated document will be the placeholder size. Users set the placeholder size by setting the width and height directly in the Word properties of the placeholder image | |
| Fixed width The final width will be the placeholder width, the height will be proportional to the source image size. Users choose the width of the placeholder directly in the Word properties of the image. The height will not be taken into account as the generation will automatically adapt it to respect proportionality. | |
| Source size The final size will be the source size of the image. Users must be cautious with this option, they should make sure to know the size of the source image as it could be too large to fit in the location chosen in the document! |
Once the edits have been made the user must click on the button to save the changes. If the user needs to cancel and not save the changes they must click on
How to Delete an Image
To delete an image tag the user can:
- delete the tag on the Word document side.
- click on the delete button in the Edit image panel
Limitations
Images must be kept in-line with text to be populated on document generation. For secured resources we only support certain file repositories. Please refer to the dedicated page for more information.
