Template Validation
The validation center tab is the place where the template errors will appear. The validation process is continuous and does not need any user interaction. It verifies if each tag is correctly formatted, has valid meta-data and matches all the rules described in this document.
A number with a red-background round will appear when errors are detected. A list of all errors will be displayed to the user. This allows the user to fix problems along the way. The user can launch a
validation process manually whenever required using this button .
The errors that the validation will catch are:
- Invalid tag structure
- Tag overlap
- Incomplete tags
- Tag duplicates
- Missing data source model reference
Invalid Tag Structure
Ex: Missing BeginTable tag.
Tag Overlap
Ex: BeginTable tag before EndTable tag from the previous table.
Incomplete Tags
Ex: Space in BeginTable tag.
Tag Duplicates
Ex: Duplicate field tag after copying and pasting.
In this case, the tool prompts the user to fix all the related errors.
HANDLING TAGS COPY/PASTE ACTIONS
If a user copies and pastes a part of the document that contains tags, they must use the dedupe function available in the Validation Center. The dedupe function allows to duplicate meta-data and change the id of all duplicated tags.
Each time the user selects a tag, the Add-in will verify that there are no clones in the document. If a clone is found, the add-in will ask to the user to use the dedupe function.
Missing Data Source Model Reference
Ex: Change of the datasource JSON.
