Swapping Clauses
You can use swap clause to replace an existing smart clause in the agreement document with another clause's content from the Playbook. The Swap button in the Playbook facilitates easy replacement of clause content and eliminates the need to mark the existing clause for deletion and then insert a new clause. This feature saves time and makes the negotiation process smoother by reducing the number of steps needed to swap a clause. However, the swap feature only works on smart clauses and not for inline or read-only clauses. Read-only clauses are eligible for swapping only if they are unlocked. When using swap clauses feature, you must consider the following:
- Swap action is available only when you select a smart clause.
- You cannot select the non-smart inline text, Read-only clauses, or other fields along with your smart clause to swap.
To swap a clause
- Check-out an agreement document in X-Author Contracts.
-
Select a smart clause in the agreement document to activate its content control.
Alternatively, click the content control tab
of the clause to select the whole clause.
- Click Playbook from the X-Author Contracts tab toolbar.
- Use the Playbook search to search for the clause.
- Select the clause from the Playbook search results and click Swap.
- Select Yes on the confirmation dialog box.
After successful swapping, the new clause content replaces the older content in the agreement document. Additionally, in Contract Management, the Agreement Clauses related list of the associated agreement record registers the following changes:
- The new clause is marked as Inserted.
- The older clause, which is swapped, is marked as Deleted.
