You can protect your agreement documents that are created or generated in PDF format during check-in. You can enable PDF security when the document is checked-in as Final-to be signed with Create PDF attachment option selected. You must configure Comply System and Admin properties in Contract Management to enable security on PDFs. By enforcing security you can control the following document restrictions for PDFs generated in Apttus Contract Management:

  • Printing
  • Changing the document
  • Content Copying
  • Document Assembly
  • Commenting
  • Filling of form fields

To perform the restricted actions the user must provide the password that you have configured in the Comply System Property. For more information about defining Comply System and Admin properties, see PDF Security for Agreement Documents topic in Contract Management on Salesforce Administrator Guide.

Understanding PDF Security

When you enforce security on a PDF document, you typically have the option of enabling or disabling certain restrictions. To view the set of possible restrictions for a PDF from Acrobat Reader, go to File > Properties. You can view the current restrictions under "Document Restrictions Summary."

If you are using the Apttus Contract Management package version prior to 11.546 version, the system administrator must assign Apttus.Comply System Properties to your user profile to enable PDF security feature for your profile. If you are using the Apttus Contract Management package version 11.546 or later version, the PDF security feature is enabled for all user profiles by default.
