Adding a Project

Users with the Project Admin permission can create projects that only they work on, or they can assign a team to the project. Users who do not have this permission cannot create projects, but they can access the projects that include them as a member of the Project Team.

  1. Click Contracts or Companies in the Navigation Toolbar, and then click the Projects link in the menu.
  2. In the Projects screen, click New Project in the toolbar.
  3. In the Project screen:
    • Enter a name for the project in the Project Name field.
    • Provide a description of the project's purpose in the Project Description field.
    • Select one of the following radio buttons:
    • Use Project Group to indicate you are responsible for completing the project.
      • In the Project Group list, select the group that accurately describes project.
    • Use Project Team to identify the members of the team who are responsible for completing the project.
      • In the Project Team field, click the magnifying glass to launch the Project Team Wizard.
      • Select the members of the team and assign permissions to each team member.
    • Make a selection in the Project Status list to indicate the project's current status.
    • Make a selection in the Project Type list to indicate the type of project you are creating.
    • (Optional) Select the Override Start Date check box to override the start date for the project, which is the date on which the first task is assigned.
    • In the Project Start Date field, enter the new start date or click the calendar to select the date.
    • (Optional) Select the Override End Date check box to override the end date for the project, which is the date on which the last task is completed.
    • In the Project End Date field, enter the new end date or click the calendar to select the date.
  4. Expand the Project Additional Fields section to populate any required additional fields that were added by an Administrator.
  5. Click Save.
