Use Case: Associating a Service Bundle with an Asset Bundle and Its Components

This use case provides an example of how to associate a service bundle with an asset bundle and its components. Your implementation may vary based on your specific business requirements.

A quote is created.
The asset bundle (equipment) is purchased and is active on the account.
Service CPQ is configured by the administrator. For more information, see Configuring Service CPQ.
The service bundle and its options are available in the Service Catalog based on eligibility rules configured by the administrator.

A sales representative needs to associate a service bundle with an equipment asset bundle and its individual components. This allows service options to be linked to specific asset options so that the correct service coverage is applied at the component level.

Note: You can associate a service bundle or a service option with either an equipment asset bundle or an equipment asset option at a time, but not with both.

The following table lists a sample asset bundle and a service bundle used in this use case.

Create a quote.
Navigate to the Installed Products page.
On the Purchased Products tab, select Asset Bundle 1.
Click Relate .
The Service Catalog is displayed.
Select Service Bundle 1 and click Configure.
The Config page is displayed.
Associate Service Bundle Option 1 with Asset Bundle Option 1.
1. Select Service Bundle Option 1 and click the manage icon next to it.
  The Manage Service Bundle Option 1 page is displayed with the following assets: Asset Bundle 1, Asset Bundle Option 1, Asset Bundle Option 2, Asset Bundle Option 3, and Asset Bundle Option 4.
2. Click the checkbox next to Asset Bundle 1 until you clear the selection.
3. Select Asset Bundle Option 1 and click Save.
  The Config page is displayed.
Associate Service Bundle Option 2 with Asset Bundle Option 2.
1. Select Service Bundle Option 2 and click the manage icon next to it.
  The Manage Service Bundle Option 2 page is displayed with the following assets: Asset Bundle 1, Asset Bundle Option 1, Asset Bundle Option 2, Asset Bundle Option 3, and Asset Bundle Option 4.
2. Click the checkbox next to Asset Bundle 1 until you clear the selection.
3. Select Asset Bundle Option 2 and click Save.
  The Config page is displayed.
Click Go to Pricing.
The Service Cart is displayed.
Verify the association at the bundle level: Hover the mouse on Service Bundle 1, click the more icon () and select Related Line Items.
You can see Asset Bundle Option 1.
Verify the association at the option level for Service Bundle Option 1: Expand Service Bundle 1 and hover the mouse on Service Bundle Option 1, click the more icon () and select Related Line Items.
You can see Asset Bundle Option 1.
Verify the association at the option level for Service Bundle Option 2: Expand Service Bundle 1 and hover the mouse on Service Bundle Option 2, click the more icon () and select Related Line Items.
You can see Asset Bundle Option 2.
Finalize the cart.
After your customer accepts the quote, confirm that an order is generated.
Activate the order.
A new service asset, Service Bundle 1 with its service options, is generated. The service asset is active and visible on the account.

Service Bundle 1 and its options are active as service assets on the account. On the Installed Products page, the association between the service asset and the equipment asset is visible on both the Purchased Products tab and the Related Purchases tab.
