Using Redline AI to Assess Risks

To access this feature, you must:

  1. Purchase the Contract AI feature package.

  2. Contact Conga Support to enable the contract-copilot feature flag on your account.

  3. Enable the REDLINE AI action permission. Only an Administrator can perform this task. For more information see Configuring Action Permissions for the Agreement Object.

Redline AI for agreement documents identifies and mitigates risks that arise from changes or new provisions introduced into the agreement by a counterparty. For example, when a counterparty changes the Limitation of Liability clause in an agreement document, such as by increasing the liability cap or adding a new provision for indirect liability. This tool, integrated with a Copilot interface, analyses the agreement document to compare clauses with pre-approved standard versions and highlights any deviations or potential risks. The system then provides a detailed risk report to guide users through these issues and suggest mitigation strategies.
  1. Open Microsoft Word and launch the add-in.
  2. Log in to X-Author for Contracts Advanced and open the required contract document. For more information on how to open a contract document, see Opening a Contract Document.
  3. Highlight the changed text you want to assess within your Contract document.
  4. Open the list of available clauses from the Contracts pane by selecting Clause Library or Doc Clauses from the Work tab.
  5. Click AI > Redline AI.
  6. Click the Risk Summary tab for an overview of the risks Redline AI detected and actions you can take to mitigate those risks. First, you will see a gauge going from green (low risk) to yellow (medium risk) to red (high risk). An arrow will point at the color indicating the highest risk present in your document. For example, if Redline AI detected a clause at high risk, the arrow will point to red. If the highest detected risk in your document is medium, the gauge will point at yellow.
    • The Contract Risk Summary displays a generated overview of the risks present in your document.

    • The Contract Mitigation Summary displays a generated summary of actions you can take to address the risks detected in your document

  7. Click the Items at Risk tab to view the risks that Redline AI detected in your document. In the High Risk, Medium Risk, and Low Risk section is a number displaying how many of each were detected.
  8. Under Risks by Clauses, click on a clause name to expand the clause summary. You can also click on the i icon beside the clause name for a short summary of the risk. In the expanded summary you can see the severity level of the risk (High, Medium, or Low) as well as what type (For example: Financial).
  9. Click on the body of the expanded summary for more options. In this maximized view, you can see the original standard clause, and the recommended Mitigation Guidance to address your detected risk. Click the i icon beside Standard or Mitigation Guidance for a short summary of each section.
  10. Under Choose your action, you can select Revert to Standard Clause or Keep. Revert to Standard clause rejects any changes made and reverts the clause back to the standard text, and Keep accepts the changes even if it contains risks. Click the i icon beside each option for a summary of what each option does.
  11. Click Done or Done and go to next. Done will close the pane, done and next will go immediately to the next risk awaiting your review and actions.
  12. Once all risks in your document are addressed, you click the Resolved Items tab to view them. You cannot undo any of the actions you have taken. If you click the refresh icon in the upper right, the items listed here will be permanently removed.
