You can use the Intelligent Discovery feature to automatically extract key data from the third party paper contracts. Apttus Intelligent Discovery scans the third-party paper, recognizes, and maps important metadata and clauses to the Apttus CLM system. You can control the visibility of the Intelligent Discovery feature in X-Author Contracts. For more details, see the Configuring Intelligent Discovery Settings topic in the latest Contract Management Administrator Guide.

Previously, on importing an offline agreement, you had to manually find clauses and fields and mark them. Intelligent Discovery uses the pre-trained Artificial Intelligence-based clauses and fields AI Models to recognize the words that denote the clauses or fields in the third party document.

To perform the Intelligent Discovery

  1. Check-in the third-party paper as an offline agreement in X-Author Contracts.
  2. From the X-Author Contracts tab, click Intelligent Discovery.

Your document will be sent for the Intelligent Discovery and you'll see a confirmation message. After Intelligent Discovery has performed the data extraction successfully, you will receive an email. Click Review Import Result button to see the Fields and Clauses recognized from the document.

The Review Import Result pane shows the list of fields and clauses identified in the document. The extracted fields or clauses are highlighted in black in the document as well as in the Review Import Result pane. When you click a field or clause name from the Review Import Result pane, the corresponding text is highlighted in the document. If you find that some clause or field is incorrectly marked, you can remove the identified clause or field from the imported document.

To remove a marked field or clause after Intelligent Discovery

  1. Open the imported document.
  2. Click Review Import Result.
  3. From the Review Import result pane, select the incorrectly tagged field or clause and right-click on the field name or clause name.
  4. Select Unmark Field or Unmark Clause.

Additionally, clauses and fields extracted by Intelligent Discovery are converted into smart clauses and fields. Upon check-in with reconcile, it will promote all marked clauses.

Intelligent Discovery AI algorithm works on previously trained AI models, and you can use X-Author Contracts to review auto-Marked Clause and Field, identified based on AI algorithm. You can correct the marked fields and clauses from X-Author Contracts Control Panel as a part of the review process.
