You can reconcile comments made on smart clauses even if there was no change made to the clause text. While reviewing an agreement if you add or update comments to a clause text or reply to a comment made on a clause, you can save that information in the agreement record after checking in the agreement document with reconciliation. This can be used during negotiations when the external party adds comments to a clause text but does not make changes to the clause text.

To reconcile comments on smart clauses

  1. Check-out an agreement document with smart clauses.
  2. Place the cursor inside any smart clause boundary and add a comment.
  3. Click Check-in and select Reconcile Document.
  4. On the Reconcile the Smart Clauses screen, you can see the comments section with the new or modified comments. When only the comments are added or updated, the Current Clause Text pane displays "No clause changes detected. Only comments added to this clause."
  5. Click Next and then click Finish to complete reconciliation.

After reconciliation, the changes are saved in the agreement record's Agreement Clauses related list with the action CommentsChangedOnly. If you modify a smart clause as well as add a comment to it, the Agreement Clauses related list shows a new entry with Action Modified- for the modified clause content and also saves the comment in the Comments field of the Agreement Clauses related list. To view the Comments field, click the clause's Number link and in the details page, you will see the previous comment and the new comment. Also, the Diff Text column of the Agreement Clauses related list shows the entry 'No changes detected' when you only make changes to the comments.
