To begin building your Data Migration app, you need to configure which Objects and Fields should be part of the migration. If you are working with an existing Data Migration app, you can make changes to the Objects and Fields already present in the app in the same way.

When you create a new Data Migration app or edit an existing one, the following screen is displayed.

To Add Objects to your App

  1. From the upper right-hand corner of the screen, click on Add Objects.



  2. Double-click on an Object or highlight and Object and use the arrow button to add Objects to your app. To refine the list of Available values, click on Search
  3. Click Save to add the selected Objects to your app. The Data Migration Dashboard updates with an entry for each Object you added.
     

Note

Do not worry about the sequence of Objects in your app at this time. Sequence will adjust depending on how External ID and Lookups are set. 

To Add Fields to your App

After at least one Object has been added to your Data Migration app, you can add fields for each selected Object.

  1. From the Data Migration Wizard screen, click on the link under the Fields column corresponding to the Object you want to work with.



  2. Select the check box for each field you want to add to your app. To refine the list of fields, enter text into the Search field. Note: You cannot deselect the Object fields ID or Name.
  3. Click Apply to add fields to your app for the selected Object.
  4. Repeat steps 1 – 3 for each Object in your app, as required.

If Fields for one of the Objects in your app have been previously added, you can click the hyperlink under the "Fields" column to add or remove more Fields.

Working with the Data Migration Dashboard

After adding Objects and Fields to your app, you can take the following actions as needed:

  • Specify a unique Display Name for each Object in the app.
  • Click on the link under the Fields column to add or remove more Fields for an Object.
  • Click on the link under the Lookup Fields column to add or remove more Lookup Fields for an Object.
  • Click on the  Copy icon to copy an Object listing and modify it as required (for example, you want to add the same Object and a different set of Fields for filtering purposes).
  • Click on the  Remove icon to remove an Object from your app.
  • Click the Display check box to enable/disable creation of a separate worksheet for the object during migration. Refer to Configuring your Data Migration App for a complete description.
  • Specify Load Sequence, Actions, and Filters. Refer to Configuring your Data Migration App for step-by-step instructions for these tasks.
