The following features are new to CPQ in this release.
Enhancements to the New UI
The CPQ May 2016 version has the following enhancements to the New UI.
Disallow add another instance of a Product on the Catalog
You can now disable the Add to Cart and Configure buttons for any product on the Catalog page to limit the user from adding another instance of the same product to the Cart. A new custom setting named Disable Add Another, available at Setup > Develop > Custom Settings > Config Select Product Settings > Manage > Primary Settings has been added to achieve this functionality. When you select this check box, the Add to Cart and Configure buttons are greyed out after you add such product for the first time.
Display attributes on the Cart
Now, the attributes configured for any of the products appear in a collapsible and expandable format. When you click the [+] sign, the attributes and their corresponding values are displayed in a 'name: value' form. The attributes for which you select the Is Primary check box on the Attribute Configuration page are called critical attributes. Only the critical attributes are shown in the Product Attributes section on the Cart.
Product sequencing using orderByClause parameter in the configure product button
With this release, Apttus has introduced orderByClause parameter that you can use to sequence the products on the Catalog page. You can add a new field in the Product2 object named as Category Rank and set the orderByClause in this manner: productOrderByClause=Category_Rank__C NULLS LAST, Name.
Multi-language support for Product fields
Using multi-language support, you can display your own language translations for any field of the Product object.
Enhancements to Quote Collaboration
Assign the collaboration request to User or Queue
You can assign the collaboration request to a user or to a SFDC queue. A radio button on the collaboration pop-up enables you to choose between the two and then you can search for the name of the user or queue through the lookup.
Chatter on collaboration requests
A chatter feed is now enabled on each collaboration pop-up. The feed is in the context of a single collaboration request and it can be accessed through a new tab on the collaboration pop-up.
Configurable collaboration dashboard and pop up
From this release onward, users can configure their collaboration pop-up and dashboard to quickly view the status of different collaboration requests.
Real-time notifications on the Cart
Sales rep sees a notification pop-up on the top right side of the screen when a collaboration request is submitted, completed, accepted and merged in the parent cart.
Smart Search (Beta)
The new Smart Search provides much faster product search results, type-ahead mechanism, and faceted search to help narrow the product search results. This feature is released as a beta version.
Enhancements to Asset-Based Ordering
Enhancement to ABO Integration with Contracts
While renewing one or more assets associated with a contract on the Installed products page, the corresponding Agreement Line Items for these renewed Asset Line Items are reflected in the Contract. The Asset IDs remain the same during the renewal process.
When you Renew or Change an asset, the status of the renewed or changed Asset Line Item shows as Cancelled and the status of the Asset Line Item which is being renewed or changed shows as New on the Cart page. For example, if you change Product A with Product B, the status of Product A changes to Cancelled on the Cart page and that of Product B changes to New.
Viewing inline attributes
You can now view the inline attributes, thus differentiating the various assets and line items on the Installed products page and Cart page.
You can now specify the renewal uplift amount during the initial sale to calculate the Net price on the Renewal Cart including the uplift.
Start Date validation for Swap action
For the Swap action for an asset, if the Start Date of the swapped asset is a future date, a validation message is displayed to enter a valid Start Date. For example, an asset A with Start Date = 1 Jan, 2017 and End Date = 31 Jan, 2017 is swapped with a product B on June 5, 2016. Instead of taking June 6, 2016 as Start Date for product B, the system shows a validation message that the End Date of product B should be after the Start Date of product A.
Populate the Delta Quantity and Delta Price on the Quote/Proposal
Two new fields called Delta Quantity and Delta Price are available with this release on the Cart page. You can view and specify the values in these fields before you finalize a Quote/Proposal.
Enhancements to Promotions
Apttus Promotions Management May 2016 release brings the following enhancements:

For example, if you want to hide a field in the Information section, go to Setup > Build > Create > Objects > Incentive > Field Sets and click Edit next to Information Section Fields. Search for your field, remove it from the field set and click Save.
Cloning an Incentive: This enhancement enables to create a deep clone of an existing promotion to create a new promotion with the existing data.
Read-Only view of Promotions
Provides a read-only single page view of the promotion for Approvers and Reviewers to ease the approval process before the promotions are applied in the Cart.
The new release has enhanced functionality to support two types of tier promotion calculations:
- Highest Tier Rate: For this type, Apttus Promotions Management will apply promotion discount as per the highest tier range for Quantity or Price. This discount will be applied for a transaction or for the overall period of purchase.
- Rate per Tier: In this type, Apttus Promotions Management will calculate promotion discount by applying different rates based on each tier range.
Auto Generation of Rollup definition for historical transaction-based promotions
Now user does not need to pre-configure Rollup definitions to define historical transaction-based promotions. Apttus Promotions Management will auto generate these definitions.
In addition to the Inclusion Criteria under Criteria section, Exclusion Criteria can also be defined to identify the quote or orders and related line items that will be excluded from applying promotions.
This enhancement provides a mechanism to handle custom validations for each page of incentive definition and show appropriate validation messages to the user.
Historical Rollup Definition
- Fixed validity dates for one time Rollups: Ability to define fixed validity dates for one time historical rollups.
- Eligibility Period for Rollups: Ability to define rollup overall eligibility period. Only one-time and recurring rollups will be calculated during this period.
- Exclusion Criteria for Rollups: Ability to define Exclusion Criteria for rollup definitions also.
Enhancements to Category Visibility on the Catalog page
Similar to visibility rules for Products, the new May 2016 release enables you to apply the visibility rules for the categories displayed on the Catalog page. This enhancement allows you to display only the relevant categories for the sales rep who sell only the specific set of products from the large catalog.
New CPQ Admin Console
With this feature, an admin can use the new administrative console to manage products and related activities such as options, attributes, and categories.
This console helps you to create new products, associate them with the categories, price lists, and price list items on a single page.Note that the Rules and Advanced Pricing features are not currently supported.
Dynamic Document Assembly Ruleset for Proposals and Line Items
Dynamic Document Assembly Rulesets (DAR) have been extended to support the Quote/Proposal and Line Item objects. Dynamic Document Assembly enables you to pre-configure filter rules that drive a sequence of prescribed dynamic clause insertions in a generated document. This results in a complete and well-formed document using a combination of proposal field values. These field values are expressed as a user-configured key that determines the desired proposal clause content during document generation.
Support for iPad Safari browser
The product configuration experience now also supports iPad Safari, iOS version 9.3.2
